What is Reiki?

REI - Universal energy around us

KI  - Energy within us

Reiki is a popular style of energy bodywork that comes to us from Master Mikao Usui of Japan.  Reiki is a non-invasive, natural healing approach that accesses universal energy to address the physical body, mind/emotions, and spirit.  Reiki is the life energy that flows through all living things. Reiki relies on the premise that we all have the ability to heal ourselves through our connection with the universal energy around us. A Reiki practitioner is able to direct and focus that connection to enact healing and restoring balance to the mind, body, and spirit.

Reiki may be combined with other therapies to speed recovery. It is most often used in conjunction with massage therapy. A 2007 study by the American Hospital Association found that over 15% of hospitals were using Reiki in the clinical setting.

What is a Chakra?

We have 7 energy centers of the body called Chakras. The word "Chakra" refers to the wheel-like spinning of energy that happens within these 7 energy centers.  Balancing or unblocking a Chakra allows the energy to freely flow throughout the 7 energy centers - creating harmony within the mind, body, and spirit.  Reiki can unblock or balance these centers - alleviating the disharmony that may be manifesting in your life.

What are the levels of Reiki?

Level one is the beginning level and its focus is on the energy flow in a physical sense. Level two is increasing the strength of energy flow and utilizing Reiki symbols in sessions to increase and focus energy. The third level also called the Master or Master/Teacher level gives the practitioner the ability to attune students to the flow of Reiki.

"First, the mind must be healed

Second, the body must be made sound

If the mind is healthy, conforming to a path of integrity

Then the body becomes sturdy of its own accord"

-The founder, Mikao Usui (1865-1926)
